After watching “This is modern Art” I was really intrigued with Jackson Pollock. At first, I would look at his paintings and not understand what he was about. I did some research online and notice that there is a method to his madness. It appears that Jackson Pollock was actually going against the status quo at the time. He was creating a new type of art with every painting he created. People can definitely notice the resemblance to Picasso in some of his work, (Stenographic Figure 1943), but most of his pieces are in a class of their own. He was a person very in tuned with his work, he painted with the canvas laid out across the floor or nailed to the wall. He used household paint and sticks, rags, etc to complete these paintings. I noticed a lot of his life’s characteristics were incorporated in his work. It seems he was a very violent and anti-social alcoholic who would use dark colored tones in his work and not really have any actual structure. It seemed that he was a painter who would just release his frustration onto his work and freely create masterpieces.

I need your approval professor!
Dear Professor, I tried to email you by the email address that you had given me, but that was unseccessful. Therefore, I am posting the email on this blog.
I was in your class on the first day and dropped it due to the inconvinient time. After I registered on the different class at LSC-Victory Center, I decided to drop that one too because of the instructor's strong ancient. I could not understand what she said and got bored of the class. However, I came back to your class on the third day and realized that I really enjoyed the class. You inspired me with your knowledge and made me eagerly study the subject. I really apologize for attending the class without your permission. The class is too soon to have adding the class done. I also did not want to miss the class; therefore, I was there without talking to you and getting your permission. I was the person who sat in front of the projector and said my ideas for a few times. I am also the only one Vietnamese student in the class. Now, I am emailing to you to have your approval for adding your class lately. Please help me. This is the last class that I need to take to graduate and I dont want to study in the class without any understanding or interests.
I will be there in your class next Monday, and if you accept my appeal, please reply to me. I will bring the paper to get your sign after the class, so I can go ahead and have documents to be done.
I really appreciate your help.

First Homework assignment
In studying a little about Picasso, it really surprised me about the works that he created. I always heard the name Picasso come up whenever art was the topic of conversation; and based on his accolades i would have assumed that his works of art be a bit more professional, i guess one could say. A lot of the works that i have seen by Picasso almost look abstract, but it is not of scenery or any sorts like that; their are all, for the most part, abstract portraits of people. when i see all of these paintings of people i immediately think, why are all his paintings of people? well as i researched on the biography of Picasso i found out that in about 1901 Picasso's best friend casagemas killed himself because the woman that he loved refused him. during this point in Picasso's life he was very depressed and felt lonely and would display these emotions and feelings in his art; hence the number of human portraits he created after casagemas death. i initially chose Picasso because out of the three people that i was allocated to write and research about, i found Picasso to be the most interesting based based on his ideas, philosophies, and paintings. personally i feel that Picasso viewed art in a different manner than other artists of his time which to me makes him that much more interesting.

Artist, Musician, Lyricist
This is Kendrick Lamar; a new rapper. His lyrics are those of poetry. And I think these pictures are really cool... in an artsy way. :)

THE BIG THREE (blog #1)
For the the most part, I want to use the blog as a platform for discussion artists and their work. It can work as either a more in depth discussion than our classroom discussion or to look at artists that aren't addressed in the lecture or book. This week I want you to become familiar with the "super star" artists Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock , and Andy Warhol. You probably have even already seen a lot of their work and didn't realize it. Watch the first episode of the series " This is modern Art" (it is boken into segments on youtube) Select one of the 3 that interested you the most, look up more of thier work online and come up with a response to their art. Keep the posts to a minimum of 100-150 words.
Bulldozers!
The Color Men Choose When They Attack the Earth by Walter de Maria
Canvass completely covered in the same paint used on construction machinery with a silver plaque reading the title of the art work.
Test Post
This is the test post that we were asked to complete before class started on Wednesday. I uploaded a random picture from the internet for everyone to enjoy.
