First Homework assignment
In studying a little about Picasso, it really surprised me about the works that he created. I always heard the name Picasso come up whenever art was the topic of conversation; and based on his accolades i would have assumed that his works of art be a bit more professional, i guess one could say. A lot of the works that i have seen by Picasso almost look abstract, but it is not of scenery or any sorts like that; their are all, for the most part, abstract portraits of people. when i see all of these paintings of people i immediately think, why are all his paintings of people? well as i researched on the biography of Picasso i found out that in about 1901 Picasso's best friend casagemas killed himself because the woman that he loved refused him. during this point in Picasso's life he was very depressed and felt lonely and would display these emotions and feelings in his art; hence the number of human portraits he created after casagemas death. i initially chose Picasso because out of the three people that i was allocated to write and research about, i found Picasso to be the most interesting based based on his ideas, philosophies, and paintings. personally i feel that Picasso viewed art in a different manner than other artists of his time which to me makes him that much more interesting.

Great first post Mr. Gore! I had never realized or wondered why Picasso did do a lot of images of people. He was very social unlike Pollock and so maybe relationships informed his art more. I love that you made me think of his work in a new way! Keep it up!
