After watching “This is modern Art” I was really intrigued with Jackson Pollock. At first, I would look at his paintings and not understand what he was about. I did some research online and notice that there is a method to his madness. It appears that Jackson Pollock was actually going against the status quo at the time. He was creating a new type of art with every painting he created. People can definitely notice the resemblance to Picasso in some of his work, (Stenographic Figure 1943), but most of his pieces are in a class of their own. He was a person very in tuned with his work, he painted with the canvas laid out across the floor or nailed to the wall. He used household paint and sticks, rags, etc to complete these paintings. I noticed a lot of his life’s characteristics were incorporated in his work. It seems he was a very violent and anti-social alcoholic who would use dark colored tones in his work and not really have any actual structure. It seemed that he was a painter who would just release his frustration onto his work and freely create masterpieces.
Great description of Pollock and his work! Well written post-Keep it up!
